Bummer DE. some chick was giving away a parrot and I said I would take it, and NO answer,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I had canaries when I was a kid. They are pretty cool. I think I will keep looking for a bird pet. The chick said her parrot loved hanging out with its human on its shoulder, then it went to bed in its cage. COOL< G NITE MR,,,,,,,,,,,,

It's almost 5 a.m.

Yesterday was a bummer. My wife went to town and about the time she got back, I heard our bird whimpering in her cage. Birds don't whimper, so that was pretty weird. The cockatiel was lying on the bottom and had her wing stuck between the lower bars. We got her out but the bird was really messed up and acted like she was having seizures (shaking her head) for the next two hours. My wife made a sling from a scarf and carried Maya around in it the rest of the night. Maya seemed a lot calmer and went to sleep. At 10 p.m., my wife said "Well, she's waking up. Her eyes are open." Then she said, "Oh. She's gone."

Only a bird, but we had her for about 14 years and she'll be missed. Her mate died last year, on the day we moved here. We'd had him for nearly 25 years. That's exceptionally old for a cockatiel. The move was clearly more stress than he could handle.

No more birds for us for a while . . . and then they'll be CHICKENS.
