FRANKLIN, Ky. (WBKO) - Harman, an automotive component manufacturer, has announced to employees they are closing the Franklin plant.
A statement by Harman said they are encountering intense competition and are adapting to the changing dynamics in the automotive industry.
"While extremely difficult, these actions are necessary and an essential step to ensure the long-term competitiveness of our business. We thank our employees, the state of Kentucky, and the local community for the partnership we’ve had in Franklin over the past years. The Company will provide severance packages and job search assistance to all eligible employees affected by the reduction."
The plant will close in September 2019, affecting around 165 employees.
