Re: "A heavy heart..."
I'm sorry for your loss. I'm envious of those who speak of the unconditional love a dog has for his owner since my dog hasn't yet behaved that way with me. He's neurotic but getting better. He only spends about half the day hiding and/or cowering now.

"Kermit" is in my lap as I type this. I put the name in quotes since he's at least as responsive to his other names (Fuzzface, Furball, Hairball, Chubby, Tubby, Buttbreath and Chowderhead). That means he's smart, right? Big vocabulary. He doesn't get into my lap willingly, but when so ordered will jump into it. Keeping him there is about the only way to hold his attention since he's otherwise on the prowl for new things to fear.

I'd love to take Buttbreath frisbee golfing the way you did with your Scooby, but I'm sure he'd flee in terror and we wouldn't get him back out of the woods for at least 24 hours. If it's not cold, he can fend for himself pretty well out there - eating grass and worms that later dribble out in a disturbing green slime that only he finds amusing.

Little by little he's improving. If the vet is right, Fuzzface is about 2.5 years old. If, say, he makes it to 12 and a half the way your lucky pooch did, maybe we'll be similarly bonded. I'm reasonably sure though, that Scooby's title of "BEST dog in the World" will be in no danger. Not from ol' Kermit.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

I figured I might as well share this - I have been lurking and fixin' to add a few enlightening posts and add to the jovial mood here yet this happened.

Five and a half years ago I was extremely lucky to become Scooby's "human" and it is with a heavy heart to share that my little boy Scooby crossed the rainbow bridge today after a gallant fight against Father time and kidney disease. My rose colored glasses will always remember my little boy with the "Scooby Chill" attitude and I will try to apply the same "Scooby Chill" to my life. I am so blessed and lucky to have been loved unconditionally so love your critters folks as I know the last 5 and a half years for Scooby, out of his 12.5 years - were pawesome!!! Scooby was the BEST dog in the World and a great disc golf dog and will be missed by all.

This one really HURTS and the worst thing is I find myself looking for my little boy as we had a bond like no other. So I guess I will now start cranking up my 9th Annual Discers-4-Whiskers pet food fundraising event. Efforts will be made to raise even MORE pet food this year for those who cannot afford it as that might be the only form of love someone has. I bought the url and redirected it to the Facebook platform as that is a great way to reach the audience - here is the link if interested. http://www.discers4whiskers.com

Take care of your critters and PEACE y'all
