From that point on, Colbert was seeing red.

If you watch the interview, Colbert wasn't hard on her in the least. He asked her some serious questions, that's all, and she handled them with ease. The author of the article exaggerated - probably to get people to watch. (It's hard not to come away from it with a good impression of her.)
