I am reminded of a friend who had a job he liked until they sent in a new general manager to "crack the whip". After the meeting where he laid out all his new goals and expectations for everyone my friend asked.

"Do you require a written notice, or will a simple F_U I quit be sufficient?"

The Brits should just go with that plan.
