Ditto here, too, nacl. Presbyterian Scotch-Irish great-great-grandfathers from Pennsylvania (from my Dad's side and my Mom's side) who fought in many battles with the Union Army in the Civil War. However, being the Southerner that I am ... while I agree with their contempt for slavery ... we might have been at odds with regard to states rights.

I remember you have said that.

My 3rd great-grandfather was a Presbyterian minister for many years, including the Civil War years. His son, Alexander, was also ordained. But, then he went to war (with an Ohio regiment). When he got out he resigned his ordination. I haven’t researched where he fought but one can omly imagine what he saw that rocked his faith.
