I don't know of a boy that age who wouldn't have been delighted. Well ... maybe a boy like zzfart who by then was probably already playing for a different team.

DE, you might want to give this a little more thought.
If he was a student of hers, and she taught SPECIAL EDUCATION, then he had learning disabilities and/or was emotionally disturbed.
My first instinct was very much like yours.
He would have loved it!
But when giving it more thought, this kid is NOT the average kid, whose learning disabilities would have caused him distress.
I just got here, so I, too, have to give it some more thought.
