If you eat it, it's not going to keep you very warm.

I'm going to call it a night. I've been up feeding the wood stove so that, hopefully, when my wife gets up it will still be putting out some heat.

One design flaw we made with this house was to put the thermostat near the wood stove. As a result, the oil heater (which warms the entire perimeter of our rectangular home) NEVER kicks in when we're using the stove. The two bedrooms turn into ice boxes on nights like this! We probably should have put the thermostat into the master bedroom. *sigh* We won't make that mistake when we build the new home.
