I'm not so much worried about whether the markets go up or down . . .
As long as my dividend checks keep rolling in. If the markets go
down I can buy more cheaply and get bigger dividend checks for
my money. If they go up . . well, I'll feel richer. (For as long
as it lasts.)
In the Y2K stock market crash, Dominion (D) (which is an electric utility)
and Heinz both just kept paying out the dividends. Dominions share price
actually went up post 2000 meltdown . . Heinz share price went down along
with the rest of the markets. But neither cut the dividend.
