De
that is actually kind of interesting.. SD RAM card for the OS? That's pretty cool.
I run a distro caled Mint of Linux.

Yes, I remember the software. And yes, the very old games didn;t take much space. I think they mayhave been written in MS Dos.

Remember the original Atari console? lol!!! Now we are talking primitive as well.

I guess I am justgetting too old to enjoy messing with stuff like that but I can see why you would, especially with Joey there. A good time together and have some fun also!

Hope you have a blast !!

Re: "You will now spend how many hours trying to make it work proplerly at How much per hour? "
It's already working properly. What we've done is to replace the operating system with a different version of linux, then install a retro-game-emulator so that all kinds of games from the 1980s run on it. (Arcade games don't work as well as console games due to the many unique hardware characteristics of the arcade games. But we had TailGunner (an arcade game I really used to enjoy) running in no time, albeit without sound. We then installed a full Apple II emulator that seems to work flawlessly. We loaded and played a game called "Apple Panic" that's a lot of fun.

One nice thing about the Pi - and you can debate this one if you like - is that it doesn't have a hard drive. It uses an SDRAM card as its boot device. We can therefore easily have it boot different versions of Linux and/or configure them very differently.

Another nice thing about it is that the applications we're installing take very little space. One of the arcade games required a total of 150K. Do you remember when software was that small??? Yes, it was primitive, but it was written efficiently and was just as fun as today's multi-gigabyte games.
