Re: "You will now spend how many hours trying to make it work proplerly at How much per hour? "
It's already working properly. What we've done is to replace the operating system with a different version of linux, then install a retro-game-emulator so that all kinds of games from the 1980s run on it. (Arcade games don't work as well as console games due to the many unique hardware characteristics of the arcade games. But we had TailGunner (an arcade game I really used to enjoy) running in no time, albeit without sound. We then installed a full Apple II emulator that seems to work flawlessly. We loaded and played a game called "Apple Panic" that's a lot of fun.

One nice thing about the Pi - and you can debate this one if you like - is that it doesn't have a hard drive. It uses an SDRAM card as its boot device. We can therefore easily have it boot different versions of Linux and/or configure them very differently.

Another nice thing about it is that the applications we're installing take very little space. One of the arcade games required a total of 150K. Do you remember when software was that small??? Yes, it was primitive, but it was written efficiently and was just as fun as today's multi-gigabyte games.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

De is more interested in having some fun time wrangling with software and time spent with his son.
That is a good reason to mess around with this electronic pile of doggy doo.

But, to each their own. You paid $75.00 dollars for the thing. You will now spend how many hours trying to make it work proplerly at How much per hour?
Just buy a chrome book cheap. Ya don't have to do anything to make it work...

I know, I'm a party pooper... I prefer to build desktops from scratch but that gets a little pricey nowadays...
