The other day I bought something and the total came up as $4.77. I gave her a five and, as she was ringing it up, I said I also had two pennies, thinking it would simplify the change.

You see, nacl, that does not simplify the transaction. It complicates it to them. Did she give you the ROYAL DUH look? I like that, too. That is one of the easiest calculations known to man!
----------

Once I bought a simple wall clock for the basement. It was $30, but it was 20% off. I explained to her (as calmly as I could) that she should take off 6 bucks. Out came the calculator; then she called the manager (who was 6 months older than she), and neither of them could figure it out. I also explained how I figured it out: 10% off $30 is $3 and 20% of $30 equals $6.00 dollars, taken off the price of the clock. She said that didn't make sense. (I am now biting my hand off) - I said, "LISTEN, I AM TELLING YOU THE CORRECT ANSWER. THE CLOCK IS $30, YOU TAKE OFF $6 AND THE CLOCK SHOULD COST $24.00."

YEP, I GOT HOME AND SURE ENOUGH, THE A-HOLE CHARGED ME $6.00 FOR THE CLOCK, LOL!
----------------

She looked at me like I had paid her in Chineese yuan.

THE INFAMOUS "DUH" LOOK!
---------

I think she was resenting the idea that she would have to void the transaction and start over to find out what the change should be. I finally told her that if she gave me a quarter I would leave happy.

WHY, OF COURSE SHE RESENTED YOU! SHE HAD TO "START OVER" BEC/ SHE COULDN'T TAKE .02 CENTS OFF OF .77 WHICH WOULD BRING YOUR TOTAL DOWN TO AN EVEN QUARTER FOR CHANGE.

YOU SHOULD HAVE SAID FOR HER TO GIVE YOU A HUNDRED BUCKS.

UNFORTUNATELY, SHE WOULD HAVE BELIEVED YOU.
------------------

I think she just wanted me to leave.

I RESENT THAT. NOW, I THINK SHE IS NOT ONLY STUPID, BUT A FOOL TO BOOT.

WHEN I GROW UP, I AM GOING TO BE A CHECKER.
SMITH'S OWES ME $2.50.
I CHECK MY RECEIPT EVERY TIME BEC/ WE HAVE IDIOTS RULING THE WORLD.
AT LEAST THE CUSTOMER SERVICE LADY UNDERSTANDS MATH.

ANY GAMES ON TODAY, NACL? WE NEED SCORES HERE, YANNO?

I especially love it when they have to bring out the calculator to figure your change.
