I've just started using my Amazon Prime account to create music playlists and play them for free. Think of a playlist as being like a Windows Folder. You can can create as many of them as you want in the Amazon music application and stuff them with as many songs as you like. I've got one for Jason Robert Brown music, and another for Broadway songs. With just a few exceptions, everything I'm interested in has been available and free.

If this interests you and you have an Amazon Prime account, download Amazon's music app to your PC from here:

https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Digital-Services-LLC-ACPforPC/dp/B00CTTEKJW

Once you've got it installed and linked to your Amazon Prime account, run it and create a playlist with whatever name you want by clicking the button on the upper right:

Next, click the Browse tab on the left side of the application. Then search for the song, album or composer of interest by using the search box on the right. In this example, you can see (barely, if you have your reading glasses on) that I'm searching for the "rent soundtrack" in order to find music from that Broadway musical.

Since there are a lot of albums that have been based on that musical, numerous matches are found. The Music App shows them as icons. They can be played by clicking on them.

Or you can scroll down to see what songs were found by your search. Notice that to the right of each song are three vertical dots. If you click on that, a menu opens that has an option to add the song to a playlist. If you pick that option, you'll be given a list of the playlists you've created and asked to select one. At that point, the chosen song will be in your playlist permanently. Put as many songs as you like into your playlists. As I said, they're like folders. So you can have a "My Favorite Songs" playlist if you like. Or "Comedy Albums". Or "Frank Sinatra Songs". Or "Crooners." Or all of these.

The Playlists you create are listed on the right side of the Amazon Music application. If you pick one, a music player opens and you can click a "Play All" button to begin listening.

I've taken it a step further. My Amazon Echo (bought from Amazon for as little as $20, or as much as $120 depending on which model you want. I own the cheap one.) automatically knows all of my Amazon Music playlists. So without any further configuraiton, if I say "ALEXA PLAY MY PLAYLIST Z_SHOWTUNES" it will play the whole Z_SHOWTUNES playlist - on significantly better speakers than I've got on my laptop, by the way. Since it always plays the playlist songs in the same order, I can instead say "ALEXA SHUFFLE MY PLAYLIST Z_SHOWTUNES" and it will play the songs randomly.

If I don't want to hear one of the songs, I can say "ALEXA SKIP THAT." I can also ask it about the songs. "ALEXA WHAT IS THAT?" After Alexa tells me, it will continue playing.

I strongly recommend turning the Echo off when finished with it.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months
