the amount of money being spent on sports is lunacy.

It isn't their money, so like most politicians they don't care. I am surprised they didn't fund a bridge to the moon.

Spending $23 million on a foot bridge is a terrible decision, even without the embarrassment of having it closed for the very event for which you spent an extra $12 million."

Re: "The road to no where........."
It isn't so much a bridge to nowhere as a bridge that can't be used at the very biggest events due to security concerns. Heads ought to roll due to the appalling decision to spend an extra $12 million on the bridge in order to have it ready for the Superbowl - when the Superbowl is one of those events for which the bridge cannot be used.

IMO, the amount of money being spent on sports is lunacy. Whether it be tickets, cable TV costs (cable providers increase every customer's monthly bill by about $20 in order to fund the NFL... regardless of whether customers watch the games), parking, stadiums or supporting infrastructure, prices are through the roof. There must be something wrong with me since I don't understand why nearly everyone and every city goes along with spending so much on something so frivolous.
