Re: "Theres all kind of home plan site online de. Im sure you will find what ya looking for."
Nope, I'm done looking. We bought and went through ten books of plans. After looking at a couple thousand designs and finding ONE that met most of our needs, I still had to make substantial changes to get the master bedroom and kitchen large enough without removing any load bearing walls. What I posted is what we'll build.

We were pretty picky:

o One story with basement
o Rectangular footprint (to avoid "peninsula rooms" that will invite the cold)
o Between 1,600 and 2,300 sq ft main floor
o Covered entrance
o Master Bedroom of at least 275 sq ft (bigger than that is preferred)
o Master bedroom entrance NOT adjacent to the front door
o Single car garage that's attached to or part of the basement
o NOT a mid-level entrance (the kind where you step in, then immediately have to go up or down more stairs to get to the two floors. My wife dislikes those.)
o Central location for a wood-burning stove.
o Potential to add a sun-room / greenhouse.

I *did* plan to have a Trombe wall to provide passive solar heat. I've now learned that New Hampshire has very few sunny days in the winter, so that idea is out.

What we're building won't be small - though, of course, "small" is a subjective thing. The main floor + basement will be about about 3,700 sq ft. Having part of the living quarters be in the non-walkout basement means that the property taxes won't be outrageous. The house should be assessed at 1,960 sq ft. We're currently living in 1,200 sq ft and feeling cramped, so the new house's space will really be enjoyed.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months
