The furloughs at Homeland Security alone are greater than the "7% total furloughed" figure Nemo heard. Perhaps what was said was along the lines of "7% of federal workers are not working right now" (since many more are working but not receiving pay for it until later.) Or something like that.

MATH is an exact science. "something like that" is not giving us the precise number of furloughed government employees.

I am trying to figure out the percentage of people who will not be getting paychecks tomorrow.

It *seems* like it is closer to 25% rather than 7%.

I am not usually this easily confused in regards to calculations.

7% are not working, but "many more" are not furloughed but also not receiving a paycheck. We don't count them as furloughed then?
