I didn't know that families could get that extended.

It is not uncommon to be close to their second or third cousins. We are not even that close, but are invited to family get-togethers when we are in town.

Kindly speak for yourself regarding age, please.

It has been established that some posters are turning 74. I am not far from 68, but the other direction. I know you are 39 and are not included in this remark.

Next, you'll be hinting around for what we all weigh.

I weighed a card the other day, to see how much it would cost to mail. I might weigh a pork chop to see if it is enough for dinner. I am sure that must be what you meant. ;-)

While I am familiar with the southeast, I didn't know that families could get that extended. Sort of like an elastic band?

Funny how nobody pointed at me in Alabammy and said, "YO, YOU WANT TO BECOME A MEMBER OF OUR FAMILY?" Maybe they knew I would willingly get adopted. dunno
