what's the point of boning up on it when in just a couple of years everything you know is going to be obsolete?

...indeed, and what is the point in buying an automoble with a lot of computer crap on it when it is all going to be outmoded before it's paid for. Trust me on this one. I own a $32,000 pickup truck / computer lab on wheels. I wish it was possible to buy a plain vanilla vehicle these days.

Re: "I remember when the first 200ghz processor come out. They were like $1300."
For many years, I knew all the AMD and Intel processors backwards and forwards, their capabilities, prices, advantages and disadvantages. Today though? Not a clue. I've become very jaded by technology over the years. Like, what's the point of boning up on it when in just a couple of years everything you know is going to be obsolete?

I really want to start using Linux. It doesn't change so frequently. And when it does, it's mostly to add additional features. The old commands and procedures don't usually go away. Windows and Office though... geez. They don't keep things working the same way for even one year. Drives me crazy.
