FYI:
Small Cell Lung Cancer - The overall 5-year survival rate for both stages of small cell lung cancer (limited stage plus extensive stage) is only about 6 percent. Without treatment, the average life expectancy for extensive disease is 2 to 4 months, and with treatment is 6 to 12 months.
`
The big question is, Is this outbreak "extensive"? Given that it was detected as a result of a fall resulting in broken ribs and not just as a result of a routine medical exam, odds are very good that the fall was due to the cancer and that it is at a stage where anybody's lung cancer would have been spotted. In other words, it probably wasn't caught early and is likely in the "extensive" category.
`
I'm sure doctors will be looking and we will likely hear within a few weeks whether the cancer has spread.

Supreme Court releases statement on Ruth Bader Ginsburg

TheRightScoop.com

The Supreme Court has released an update on Ruth Bader Ginsburg this morning, explaining that she’s now recuperating at home and that there’s no sign of the cancer since her surgery. She’s gonna be just fine:

CNBC – Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was released from the hospital on Tuesday and is recovering at home.

The 85-year-old justice spent five days at Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York following a Friday procedure to remove a cancerous growth from her left lung.

The court said that following the surgery no further treatment was planned, and that there was no evidence of remaining disease.

The procedure removed two malignant nodules that were discovered incidentally during tests Ginsburg received while being treated for rib fractures sustained in a fall last month. Ginsburg said earlier this month that she has almost fully recovered from the rib injury.

Ginsburg’s health has been a matter of intense public concern. The former ACLU litigator is the eldest justice on the bench and the senior member of the court’s liberal wing. Her retirement would likely enable President Donald Trump to name her replacement, further cementing a conservative majority on the nine-member bench.

I know there’s been some speculation out there that RBG is worse off than anyone is admitting, but it seems like she’s overcome cancer twice now according to these reports. And good for her. Cancer is a horrible disease and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

If RBG is to leave the court – and I would certainly welcome that day as I think she’s a horrible SCOTUS justice – I’d rather her do it because she’s ready to retire and not because she’s forced to do it because of cancer.
