I think about reality on a daily basis DE. I think you know that.............EVERYTHING I am reading says this is just the start. A talking head on fox buss this morning said it great. This market right now is like a basketball rolling dowen the stairs. Many bounces up, some higher but the final results is at the bottom of the stairs.......

Realist - Everybody in America is soft, and hates conflict. The cure for this, both in politics and social life, is the same -- hardihood. Give them raw truth.

Re: "Jim Rickards – The days of caring about debt and deficits are over"

I know that this topic makes me sound like a chicken with its head cut off, but things are going to get very, VERY ugly one day. You can take "one day" in a literal sense too, since the economy will probably come down globally with little advance warning. Folks might not care about debt and deficits, but caring is irrelevant. You'll notice that the debt continues to mount. No caring is needed. The debt is there. Its growth is accelerating. And its effects WILL be manifested one day. Some of those effects will be harsh.

I hope you guys are thinking about this at least a little. If a severe inflationary depression kicks in, your money isn't going to last very long. Will you be able to get by? One thing I have learned in the last year is that your first few years gardening will probably disappoint. Let me put it this way: If I'd had to live on what I grew in 2018 . . . you folks wouldn't be talking to ol' Decomposed right now.

I therefore suggest to you that gardening and canning are essential skills that we all should be developing right now. It will take a few years to attain competence.

And we should grow things that matter. Cucumbers and lettuce might be easy, but they aren't at all nutritious. Include some perennials that don't require a lot of attention: Fruit and nut trees, berry bushes, rhubarb. Do it right and this potentially life-saving pastime can even be enjoyable. Feel free to debate that point. Gardening IS work - especially at first when you have to worry about things like developing the soil and putting up fences.
