Roundabout rules are complicated.

I do my best to avoid them, but I know that isn’t possible in New England.

They have put in a number of roundabouts on the way to Sedona. I try not to drive to Sedona, but if I have to I go through Flagstaff. (Maybe an hour longer butI consider it to be safer.)

Re: "Oh, good, I have a round about. HERE THEY HAVE ROUNDABOUTS. OMG, have you ever gotten caught in a roundabout?"
`
Within a week of our move North, my wife was in a Roundabout and hit another car. Now, my wife did the hitting. I was there and there was no question about that. I was sure we would be found at fault. But the police officer (and a witness) determined that it was the other driver's fault because we were in the inside lane, changing to the outside lane and the other driver had no business being there. (The other driver was traveling very fast, essentially passing us, according to the witness.)
`
The other driver's insurance company paid for our repairs. Huh. Who'da figured? Roundabout rules are complicated. I'm still not sure I understand them. I just check and double check when I'm in them before I do any lane changing... and I never knowingly drive alongside anyone else.
`
fyi... when you're in a Roundabout and in the outside lane, you are expected to take the next turnoff. If you don't and someone hits you, it's your fault. That's why you need to get into the inside lane when you enter the thing.
