I need to start using my firewood but haven't yet. The problem is that I didn't have my chimney (which is a metal pipe) checked and it MIGHT have a bird nest or other debris in it after all these years. If I use the wood stove, there's therefore a chance of a roof fire. Mmmm. The prospect makes me nervous but I'm probably going to risk it soon.

We're actually having a warm spell right now. Temps were in the 50s today and it rained. Most of the snow has melted - which is a good thing since it means my driveway is functional again. (I've had the minivan parked up near the street ever since returning from my trip. Now I can bring it down to the house and finish unloading it.)
