Windi Thomas pleaded guilty on Monday to the 3rd-degree murder of 44-year-old Keeno Butler.

Thomas has agreed to the recommended sentence of 18 to 36 years in state prison. She will be formally sentenced on December 21, after standing trial on December 10. As per the plea agreement, Assistant Erie County District Attorney Jeremy Lightner dropped charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and possession of the instrument of a crime.

"It's a good result based upon the facts of the case," said Thomas' court-appointed lawyer, Mark Del Duca, of Pittsburgh. "I think it's fair for both sides." Butler's sister Sandra Butler strongly disagrees. "I feel like she should have 40 or more," Butler said. "She deserved life."

According to reporting by GoErie, police said, "Thomas told investigators that she cut Butler in the hand with a folding knife, struck him in the head with a table leg during a confrontation, and then "placed her head on the couch so a portion of her body would be on Butler's head." Thomas was more than double Butler's mere 120 lbs. weight.

Thomas called to report the murder herself. When police arrived, they found Butler's body on the living room floor. The murder was ruled to have been caused by "respiratory insufficiency secondary to blunt force trauma to the neck and thoracic compression, exacerbated by blunt force trauma to the head."

Thomas will be held in the Erie County Prison without bond until she is sentenced.

A few observations, if I may ...

1. The prosecutor dropped the "possession of the instrument of a crime" charge against Thomas? I realize this could possibly be in reference to the knife and/or the table leg, BUTT ... even though the body part applied against Butler's head isn't specifically identified, IT is the murder "weapon" and wouldn't it be logical to presume that she would always be in possession of it?

2. Speaking of the table leg, I wonder if Thomas gnawed it off the table or simply ripped it off 'cuz she was in a hurry, eh?

3. Butler only weighed 120 pounds ... and he was dating a 300 pound woman?! Wow ... suffocation was a foregone conclusion for his ultimate demise, anyway, don'tcha know!

4. Thomas' first name is Windi, eh? Hmmm ... I wonder if she is somehow related to Stormy?
