I'm driving to Virginia with the minivan in a few days

awww, guess who is coming home? oh, yay.

=================

My wife is staying up here. I'll have to keep my fingers crossed that no big snowstorms come through in the meantime. While my wife could absolutely snowblow the driveway by herself, actually starting the blower is another matter. It's old and can be stubborn, maybe taking more muscle than she's got.

Your wife must be a weight-lifter or some such thing.

IMHO, and you didn't ask for it, but to me, it is:

GROUNDS FOR DIVORCE, omg

---------------

Now, I don't have any problems starting my blower, but seriously De, you should take her with you. I mean, if she wants to go.

I am just one of those scaredy cats.

I don't want to stay alone in a pretty remote place;

I don't want to snowblow my driveway.

I would worry about the take-out places shutting down.

I don't want to have to pray for 12 days.

Of course, Mrs. DE knows how to shoot.

I may have to rethink this.

Careful out there, DE.

I don't mean the roads, the traffic etc. etc.

I mean those "metoo" types that might try to entrap you.

Smile)))))))))))

Folks in the area tell me that the fall weather was both the coldest and snowiest they remember, more like January than November. I guess it was a good initiation for me. I've enjoyed it though. Clearing the driveway takes me about 2 1/2 hours after a heavy storm, and that's with the snowblower. If I used the tractor, I might cut the time down significantly - but I'm lazy and haven't felt like untarping and re-tarping it each time there's a need.
`
I'm driving to Virginia with the minivan in a few days and learned today that the vehicle, which has been "mothballed" next to the house, isn't able to get to the street because of the incline and the half inch or so of packed snow that's still on the driveway. I made a few attempts to move it and then gave up figuring I would just park it halfway up the driveway for now. The driveway had other thoughts, and the van started sliding back down on its own. I put it in reverse and parked it in the level area near the house, pretty much where it had been parked to begin with.
`
This might be a big problem except that the weather gods are smiling on me for a change. A warm front is coming through tonight, dropping 45° rain for about 24 hours. I expect most of the snow to be gone... and definitely the small amount that's interfering with my ability to move the van.
`
I'll be gone for 10 or 12 days. This time, I'm doing the trip by myself (and returning with my son.) My wife is staying up here. I'll have to keep my fingers crossed that no big snowstorms come through in the meantime. While my wife could absolutely snowblow the driveway by herself, actually starting the blower is another matter. It's old and can be stubborn, maybe taking more muscle than she's got.
`
I've got a few days yet - I'm probably leaving on Wednesday. Maybe I'll replace the spark plug... and pick up a bottle of ether so that she'll have a fighting chance at getting the thing to start, should the need arise. Right now, though, the long term forecasts indicate that December is going to be a far tamer month than November was.
