Well,
While I was in the Army in Alaska . . . they issued me a pair
of cross country skis . . . and they expected me to learn and
know how to use them.

I'd tell the Sarge I was going out for some physical training . . .
And go skiing and have me a very good time.

The Old Sergeant taught us all about how to prepare the skis
for cross country work. Including waxing a little V on them
to help in hill climbing.

So one day I took off on my ski's, and when I reached a little
hill we called 'sand hill' I found a bunch of clowns from down
south trying to ski up the hill. Some of them was sidestepping
up the hill, some was herringboning up it . . . many of them
was taking off the skis and carrying them up the hill.

I just skied up to the base and walked straight up the face.
Skis parallel. (I had waxed them according to the Old Sergeants
specifications).

I know I frosted their butts. I just walked straight up the front,
skied across the top then down the other side and kept going.

Zim.

Not true! Snow blowing is FUN!

During this afternoon's surprise blizzard and windstorm, I strapped on a pair of skis and let the snow blower pull me around the yard. At one point when the wind kicked up and I couldn't see anyway, I closed my eyes and pretended to be snowmobiling. By the time I opened them again, I was across the street and halfway through my neighbor's field. (He gave me the strangest look, too.) Some people just don't know how to enjoy the snow.
