I lived in the Philippines
You did? Always wanted to go there, since my family doctor was from there. He was wonderful. Anyway, they seem to be now overrun by Muslims. I can't speak to that specifically, as I have never been there.
I can say this, with some authority: My doctor hated the Japanese. He saw his father and uncle shot by them.

The region is intended to supersede an earlier autonomous zone, composed of five provinces, that was considered to have benefited only a small number of Muslim families and that had been wracked by violence. The new area is expected to be larger and better funded.
