My brother bought 600 acres of agricultural land around 2000 and almost immediately decided to rip out 50 acres or so of plum trees since there was no market for plums. Big mistake. The river rose and since his land was where the river turned, something like 20 acres washed away!
LOL.
I laugh about it now because he sold it several years later (without ever having done a thing to it, except for the plum trees) for an enormous gain. A well timed flip when California real estate prices were soaring. But there was no laughing when he lost all that acreage to the river.
