Shawnee State University Wins Competition Of Unhinged Academic Lunacy

People sometimes ask me what it's like to work with the biggest bunch of unhinged lunatics in higher education in America. I used to be able to give them a serious answer. But I can no longer do that because the title of most unhinged institution has slipped away from the UNC system and landed in the great State of Ohio. This is all thanks to administrators at Shawnee State University who have now been sued for punishing a professor because he refused to provide public affirmation to an emotionally unstable student. Specifically, he refused to heed to a male student's demand to be referred to as a woman, complete with feminine titles and pronouns. ...

The manner in which the controversy was initiated strongly suggests that the student's emotional issues are not limited to suffering from Gender Identity Disorder, or GID. In January, during a political philosophy class, Meriwether simply responded to the male student's question by saying, "Yes, sir." ...

In contrast, the student, who approached Meriwether stated that he was transgender and demanded that the professor refer to him as a woman with feminine titles and pronouns, is clearly unhinged. When Meriwether did not instantly agree, the student lost control of his emotions and began circling around Meriwether like a bully in a schoolyard preparing to start a fistfight. He topped it all off by getting in his professor's face and telling him, "Then I guess this means I can call you a c*nt."

Before walking away, the student promised to get Meriwether fired if he did not agree to all of his demands. Shortly thereafter, the student filed a complaint with the university, which launched a formal investigation. Far from resolving the matter, it led to the present litigation.

Shortly after the investigation was initiated, Meriwether repeated his offer to call the student by his first or last name only. Unsurprisingly, university officials refused to side with the reasonable adult, and instead sided with the emotionally disturbed student. Next, they formally charged Meriwether, alleging that he "effectively created a hostile environment" for the student. A warning in his personnel file threatening "further corrective actions" soon followed. ...

Obviously, the inmates are now running the insane asylum formerly known as Shawnee State University. Here is another article on this case ...

Berkeley student senator disavowed over Christian beliefs responds to calls to RESIGN

... Isabella Chow is an elected student senator who represents the Associated Students of the University of California party Student Action. But after choosing to abstain from voting on a resolution to oppose the recent Title IX changes proposed by President Donald Trump, Chow's own party disavowed her.

The proposed Title IX changes lack a legal definition of gender, effectively limiting "gender identity" to one's physical sex, according to the Wall Street Journal. The resolution before the Berkeley student government was a statement of opposition to these proposed changes, intended to display solidarity with members of the LGBT community, specifically "transgender, intersex, nonbinary and gender nonconforming students," as reported by the independent student newspaper the Daily Californian.

Chow, who says she "campaigned very clearly as the candidate who would represent the Christian community" chose not to vote for the bill, stating that she could not do so "without compromising [her] values and [her] responsibility to the community that elected [her] to represent them." ...

"I didn't expect the backlash and misunderstanding to be so swift," Chow said, adding that she believes said misunderstanding is one that comes from "a difficulty to reconcile how the traditional Christian worldview can espouse love and validity for all individuals and yet disagree with certain identities or choices."

"At the end of the day, it's a belief in objective truth," Chow explained. ...

In her original statement to student government, Chow prefaced her choice to abstain by stating "My God is one who assigns an immeasurable value to and desires to love each and every human being. In God's eyes and therefore my own, every one of you here today and in the LGBTQ+ community as a whole is significant, valid, wanted, and loved - even if and when our views differ."

The Daily Californian refused to publish an op-ed written by Chow explaining her decision. The publication rejected her submission on the basis that it "reinforces" her original statement, which they claimed, "utilized rhetoric that is homophobic and transphobic by the Daily Cal's standards."

Chow asked how she could edit her piece in order to comply with the publication's standards but was told that because of its content "the submission as a whole doesn't meet the newspaper's editorial standards."

The paper cited a blurb on its website in its rejection email to Chow: "Op-eds that are deemed libelous, racist, sexist, homophobic, or highly offensive in any other manner will not print."

In other words, if you hold any view other than that of The Daily Cal's intolerant, leftist religion, you are automatically disparaged as a bigot. Hmmm ... so much for the concepts of tolerance and diversity at Cal Berkeley ... but, that's no big surprise.

UMass students label "right-wing trolls," "conservative apologists" as "THE ENEMY"

... UMass Students Against Fascism also cited an incident that recently took place on campus involving the defacement of a stairwell sign with what appeared to be a Confederate flag. According to the Daily Collegian student newspaper, Dean of Students Cara Appel-Silbaugh wrote in a campus-wide email that "members of color" in the university community "live in fear due to racist threats of violence."

Appel-Silbaugh also offered counseling to any students affected by the sign, but also clarifying that the campus police did not deem that the flag drawn "distinctly resemble[d] a Confederate flag."
