Grassley: If No Testimony Agreement by 10:00 PM Tonight, We'll Vote on Kavanaugh on Monday

Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley (R-IA) has announced that the Senate Judiciary Committee has extended the testimony agreement deadline for attorneys representing Professor Christine Blasey Ford to 10:00 PM tonight in an effort to give Professor Ford a chance to tell her version events of events about her sexual assault allegation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. If her attorneys cannot come to a reasonable agreement, the Senate will vote on Monday to confirm Kavanaugh.

"Despite the fact that the July 30th letter remains hidden, my committee has been investigating the allegations and has heard from multiple witnesses since Sunday," Sen. Grassley said in a statement evening.

"[Attorney Debra Katz] has discussed Ford's allegations in numerous media interviews and said on TV Monday morning that Dr. Ford wants to share her account with the Senate Judiciary Committee. It's Friday night and nothing's been agreed to despite our extensive efforts to make testimony possible," he continued.

Sen. Grassley noted that he will be extending the deadline for Professor Ford's attorney until "10:00 Pm ET" this evening. Likewise, he provided Professor Ford a "notice of vote to occur Monday in the event that [her] attorneys don't respond" or if Professor refuses to testify.

Sen. Grassley warned that the committee "cannot continue to delay" but if a reasonable agreement was made, the committee would postpone the vote to "accommodate her testimony."

As noted by the Daily Wire, the original deadline had passed as of 10:00 am this morning. "Ford was invited to testify on Monday by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley with a deadline to respond by Friday at 10 a.m., which has come and gone."
