Zim - sure you can also recall when Lake Erie was declared 'DEAD' with no possibility of parole.

We in the US ARE good stewards - and DO demand that companies behave responsibly. What the liberals demand, however, is pure totalitarian control and demonization of anybody that doesn't toe their idiotic lines - like stupidly demanding that ALL COAL PLANTS be shut down.

As you pointed out, they have been greatly cleaned up.
But, as Maniati pointed out long ago, they are still responsible for a lot of mercury being released into the environment. (And so are the 'energy efficient' bulbs !!!)

Why does America have the cleanest air on this planet?

Because 'We' mandated that our coal fired power plants
have those smoke stack scrubbers installed to ensure
that we do not pollute the air.

(Along with tons of other anti-pollution efforts on the books.)

Take note that China has a severe air pollution problem.
