Re: “Remind me again, what is the difference between this and welfare.”

Welfare is only for those at and beneath the poverty level. UBI money is given to every adult citizen.

A job will not affect UBI payments, but it may disqualify a person from or reduce welfare payments. Thus, welfare may discourage recipients from looking for work while UBI payments should not.

I'll leave it to you to figure out the implications of this. I don't argue for UBI. I just find it inevitable. It is, of course, a form of welfare.

Since the study is almost certainly going to be limited to impoverished people, it would be misleading to say that this will be a test of true UBI.

I really am trying to follow this thread. Remind me again, what is the difference between this and welfare.
