I woke up because my wife came to bed and she decided to read. So now I'm up. This is one of the bad things about being retired. Our internal clocks are getting all messed up. I woke up at 6:00 a.m. a couple of days ago, 4:00 a.m. yesterday, and now 2:00 a.m. My wife is going the opposite route, staying up later and later each night.
I almost immediately became aware that I had a fresh bite on my ankle. How did that happen? I checked all the walls and couldn't find a mosquito. Maybe it was a spider. But I went to the bathroom and found two mosquitoes buzzing near the light. They are the really small ones (or were, anyway, since I killed 'em) - the kind that are hard to see and probably have an even worse bite than their larger cousins. When I came back to the bedroom I killed two more. None of them so far were bloody when smashed, so there's at least one more and I'm starting to obsess about finding it.
UPDATE: I've now killed seven. Another update: TEN. %@#! They're attracted to the bedroom since it's the only lit room in the only lit house for a long ways. Life in the country....
So how are these stupid things getting in??? Maybe the small gaps around the window air conditioners...
I know, you guys don't really care. But it's 3:45 in the morning, my foot itches and I don't give a rats' a$$!!!
