HOLY CRAP firewood is pricey back there. We pay $180 a cord here for doug fir. Very dense hot burning wood....

And burning Alder here is bad for chimney fires. Don't use it at all......

It's 3 cords. The wood is stacked on pallets that are probably 5 inches thick. And the pallets are on cinder blocks... probably 9 or 10 inches thick. So right there, my stack loses 15 inches.

I'll believe the pros. They sold me 3 cords and I'm sure they got it right.

I paid $720. That's not cheap, but the company removed the bark. That's worth a lot to me. Not only is wood without bark easier to light, but bark is also the source of creosote. Creosote is the cause of chimney fires.
