Sears/Kmart have been in financial dire straights for several years now and it only keeps getting worse.
SEARS should never have become part of KMART. Kmart will go the way of all it's predecessors like GOLD CIRCLE stores, or ONTARIO stores from the past.
Sears faces challenges as a department store because sop many people buy clothes online as well as other things.
My local Sears store is doing some tings I think are good. They are eliminating areas where they do not perfrom well and getting more things there that people want to get their hands on and see in person, like MAttresses, BIGGER APPLIANCE department, all brands, and of course TOOLS.
I believe if they focus on those things that people have interest in they will come out of this.
That is my opinion only. Their financial situation could be much more dire than that and if so, they will need to continue to shed non-productive stores.
Sad to see but today it seems like you have to become a specialty store....
