Dear Micro,
I started out with 'Direct Stock Purchase Plans' - no broker.
A while back I also opened a brokerage account with
Vanguard. I use computer access only and I do very
little buying or selling. The cost is not bad.
I also invest with the dividends in mind. Solid,
dividend paying companies that like to increase the
dividends. (I think I've typed this before.)
With Direct stock purchase plans buying and selling
takes place at a snails pace - want to bail out of a
stock in a hurry it just isn't going to happen.
But as long as those dividend checks keep rolling in
I'm not going to worry too much about the share prices.
Scottrade was bought by TD AMERITRADE a few months ago.
A purging has to occur. I now have a new Ameritrade account which I likely will never use. My Scottrade account is gone.
My local office is gone and permanently been closed. I may open up a Schwab account instead...
