I just learned how to overlay my property with topographic lines to see the lay of land within Google Earth. It's rather cool and should be useful for tracking water flow. If any of you have a reason to do this, let me know and I'll explain the process.
The pond off to the right is not mine. But my property does go further up than this image suggests.
The path you can see in the field is from dirt bikes. I was surprised to see that from the path's base to the top of the field is only a 60 foot ascent. It seems like more. And then, if you continue that direction, there's a sharp drop down to a creek coming from the pond. The creek runs to the left and merges into a year-round stream that is my western boundary.
