When I worked and lived in NYC, they took 1/3 of my income in fed/state/local taxes. And with Dems running the city/state (along with its sanctuary city and welfare), I wonder how much of that went to corruption.

If B's second chart is correct, the tax cut is petty cash and will hardly be noticeable. That would be a betrayal of the spirit of a "middle class" tax cut. The table shows 1%, give or take, for around $50K income and 3% for the millionaires. That's pure unadulterated bs and we should tar and feather Congress if that is the net of these tax cuts. Fortunately, I pay < $10K in property taxes.

Can't wait to see the new withholding on my SS/pension. I got the 2018 SS breakout and the taxes withheld went up $5. I assume that was the pre-tax cut number and we'll get a revision, but with the card sharks in DC, who knows.

New York is overwhelmed with people like clo and zzfart - leaches who take far more than they provide. It needs to figure out, as Maine has, that some people aren't worth saving. Cut the taxes... cut the benefits... and get rid of the rot. That's the way back to health. Sooner or later New York will cut these people off.
