It's 28 in Virginia at noon, and the temperature won't top 30 all day. I think this is the first sub-freezing day we've had this winter. More are on the way.

I'm on the second floor of a well insulated apartment complex, though, so no worries.

NEXT winter, I'll probably start using the wood burning stove for the first time - though that's not definite. Isn't the wood supposed to sit out for a year before use? I won't have enough time for that. Fortunately, there's also oil.

The house that's not yet built will have five types of heat: Oil, Internal wood-burning stove, External wood-burning furnace, Electricity (if I get desperate), and Passive solar (Trumbe wall.)

My wife and I are going through home books trying to decide on a plan. I finally found one I like but it's from 1998 and is no longer being sold. #$@!. I think I'm going to need an architect to duplicate the plan and make a few changes (mirror imaging the house, and stretch part of it to give us a bigger master bedroom and kitchen.)

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months
