...when I was in management I posted a notice:

If you have not been shot, stabbed, burned or poisoned or do not have a broken bone that is actually protruding thru the skin, your attendance at work is mandatory.

...ir was a joke, but the union was not amused.

agreed.

SNiffles from acold are a different thing though and I had my share of employees who looked for reasons NOT to come to work. I motivated some by not paying them for using up tooo many sick days.....
