We're having our first snow of the year today too - but it was supposed to start around midnight and didn't begin in earnest until after I got up, around 8:30.
This is far from our earliest snowfall. Five or six years ago, it snowed on October 30th, dumping enough to cancel work. It proved to be the ONLY snowfall of that winter.
Most years, January and February are when Virginia get its big snowstorms.

...earliest snow I remember seeing here in God's country. Also the most. I got a couple of feet in the backyard. Me and Mz ribit used to play "catch me catch me" when it snowed. Aw hell we played it when it rained or sometimes just if the sun went down.
