Al Franken accuser Stephanie Kemplin ‘appalled’ by resignation speech

By Jessica Chasmar - The Washington Times

An Army veteran who accused Sen. Al Franken of groping her breast during a 2003 photo op criticized the Minnesota Democrat’s resignation speech Thursday for calling out President Trump and Roy Moore while refusing to admit to his own behavior.

“I have to say that I am so sad and appalled at his lack of response and him owning up to what he did,” Stephanie Kemplin told MSNBC, according to a clip flagged by The Daily Caller.

Mr. Franken announced amid mounting accusations that he forcibly kissed or groped women that he is resigning from the Senate in the “coming weeks” after eight years in office.

During his speech on the Senate floor Thursday, Mr. Franken did not admit to any of the behavior described and declined apologize to the alleged victims. He also took parting shots at Mr. Trump and Mr. Moore for facing their own allegations of sexual misconduct while still receiving their party’s support.

Ms. Kemplin, who is one of eight women who have come forward to accuse Mr. Franken of sexual misconduct, said the senator needs to own up to his behavior.

“I feel that he just keeps passing the buck and making it out to be something that we took his behavior the wrong way, or we misconstrued something, or just flat-out lied about what happened to us,” she said.

“Justice to me would be him owning up to what he did and to stop trying to pass the buck to other individuals who possibly did commit the same things, possibly more heinous, than what he’s done,” she added.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

What Franken - and many Democrats, apparently - don't understand is that there is proof that Franken's accusers are telling the truth. If there were a trial - and perhaps there will be - he'd be convicted. This is quite different from the Roy Moore and even Donald Trump accusations. In both cases, the accused men deny the allegations and there's no proof that they ever did anything. Meanwhile, one of Moore's accusers presented an autographed yearbook as proof that they had a relationship while she was in high school. But see the "D.A." to the right of his name? That's not how he signed his name.

"D.A." WAS, however, attached to much of Moore's official paperwork when the paperwork was stamped with Moore's signature but approved by his assistant, DELBRA ADAMS. She began working for Moore in 1989 - 12 years after the yearbook. Whoever forged the yearbook signature apparently thought "D.A." meant "District Attorney." It didn't. Moore was never a D.A. He was an ASSISTANT D.A., beginning in 1977, then a judge a few years later.

That's the case against Roy Moore. A flawed yearbook forgery and a bunch of recent accusations. The case against Trump? A disgusting brag he made decades ago when he didn't know he was being recorded and, again, a bunch of recent accusations. Are the accusations true? NOT necessarily. And the circumstances are not explained. Trump's brag, for instance, may have been referring to a woman who was already naked and in his bedroom. It's impossible to say.

Such is the price of fame. One has to watch himself, constantly, from adolescence on. People are taking notes, listening and recording what the famous do. Many people are opportunists. Many are NOT friends.
