De,
I lost the thirty . . . Ten of them came back.
I have a scale in my bathroom. I put one of those
cheap calendars on the wall in there, and added a pen
and a pair of reading glasses. Every morning and
every night I step on the scale, and write down
the weight on the calendar.

Between the tight britches and seeing the numbers . . .
Well, if I can't motivate myself that way no hope for it.

re: "A few years back a quack tried to prescribe a statinfor me . . . Seems my triglycerides were way high, but the cholesterols were not that bad."

Yup, that was a quack. To the best of my knowledge, statins will lower your cholesterol but don't do anything about triglycerides.

As you learned, the way to lower triglycerides is to cut out sweets of all sorts. I'll have a hard time with that. I don't care about sugar, per se, but I do love fruit.

Like you, I need to lose thirty pounds. Forty would be better. Fifty... well, fifty is what the AMA says I should lose. I'll keep a log of my weight when I'm up north. I think I can do it.
