TRY THIS ALSO. Specifically found under HP laptop and windows 8.
Let's reset your password by going into SAFE MODE and booting up in safe mode....
Here is link: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/My-password-doesnt-work-to-open-my-laptop/td-p/3741776
Here are steps:
WHEN your computer is booting up (white letters on dark screen, post mode) be TAPPING on the F8 key..
A screen will appear with options on it for yo to select.
Using the ARROW keys up and down, highlite the choice:
"safe mode with networking" then select okay, hit enter key, whatever. You may not have to do anything....
The computer will reboot in safe mode. Hopefully it will come up in windows in safe mode.
IF it does, see if you can get into the admin account and reset the password or possibly remove it if you want.
Here is same thing, more detailed from another site:
Restart the PC. Hold down F8 once you’ve enter the Windows® Boot Menu, select Safe Mode with Networking and once you enter the safe mode, select (default) Administrator to login with (The password may be blank), once you succeed to enter Windows® using that account, open Control Panel and open User Accounts and Family Safety and open User Accounts and then select Manage another account and then select your original PC account and click Remove Password. Once that is done, restart the PC.

The secret is getting to the windows 8 desktop screen using SAFE MODE.
you also could try tapping the F11 key and seeing if windows will do a system restore to an earlier date ..
THAT may solve your problem also....
Give it a try and see if works....
