When I left California in 2005, I discovered that the spicy seasoning salt that made my baked chicken *so* tasty couldn't be found. Not at Shopper's, Safeway, Giant, Food Lion, Bloom, Wal-mart or even Wegman's (which says it tries to carry everything its customers want and is willing to special order if it's not in the store). None of the ethnic markets carried it either. Both McCormick and Lawry's made versions of it, and both brands can be found in Virginia. But not my hot seasoning salt. After a month, Wegman's wrote me to say they couldn't find it.
I was a bit bummed, so I asked my mother-in-law to bring several bottles when she came to visit. She called though to say that it wasn't in California either. Neither brand. None of the stores.

I checked Amazon. Nope. I tried New Hampshire stores. Nope. I wrote to Lawry's. They said it had been discontinued but didn't say why.
I've always figured there must have been a lawsuit or something. Maybe somebody weaponized it. It was really good seasoning but also *REALLY* hot. I wouldn't want to get a handful of it thrown in my face.
For twelve years I've been looking and trying various types of hot pepper seasoning that sounded almost right but never were. Usually they just turned out to be straight pepper. Not seasoning salt at all.
Yesterday, I found "Adobo Picante" on a shelf at Shopper's. I tried it at home and... ahhh. Perfect.
I picked up another eleven bottles today. It was all they had. I should be good for at least five years!
