You do not HAVE to wake up in pain. The surgeon can insert a PAIN BALL with an automatic drip on it so you have pain killer right where it needs to be when you actually do awaken in recovery.

Yes, shoulder surgery is painful. Had it done twice on my right shoulder a year apart and it was excruciating but I survived. The pain ball was great. I also KNEW it the moment it ran out of painkiller..

In your case, you are having an artificial socket which is even more invasive and so yes, you will need some heavy duty pain meds. I suspect you will get morphine.

It works. Trust me.

As usual, remind me when we get closer. I will be praying for you a lot.
