...not uncommon for a business to buy out a better competitor and close em down. It prevents competition and at the same time allows management to point out what a good job they are doing.

I remember that one, it was a great site. Didn't know it bit the dust, a shame.

My favorite was Money Central. The stock charts were a Microsoft creation and were really dynamic. I forget how it worked, but the file of your stocks was on your pc. I think they merged with someone and dumped it.

They never let well enough alone. All change is not good, look at Obummer.
