mt, Air-to-air combat

I was thinking of the Russians in Syria. They can't shoot down a Russian fighter from 50 miles that's in close proximity to one of our aircraft that its harassing, I theorize.

Seems like our fighter would need to make an appearance to chase them off?

Maybe you'all are right about the gun, but it seems to be next to useless.
