Why AT&T Is Poised to Benefit from Software-Defined Networking

...they was poised for it 20 years ago. We did all the provisioning and maintenance for SDN in the entire country. Problem is that we turned it up working. Steadfastly refused to turn up (pass a service order) that had not been worked. Marketing did not like that because they wanted their commissions and bonuses on time whether the customer had service or not.

...the end result was to take the provisioning and give it to ST Louis and give us the maintenance. Whenever an entity was scheduled to cut over to SDN the "provisioning" folks would pass the orders and tell em to call maintenance if they had any problems.
From then on we spent most of our time fixing crap that was TURNED UP BROKE. As a result we had little time for entities who had sdn service and who had actually been interrupted.

...in a short period of time they managed to turn SDN into a clusterfuzzle of biblical proportions.

Liberals are like a "Slinky". Totally useless, but somehow ya can't help but smile when you see one tumble down a flight of stairs!
