Realist - Everybody in America is soft, and hates conflict. The cure for this, both in politics and social life, is the same -- hardihood. Give them raw truth.

That was 2003. The use of propaganda to justify killing in people's minds.

I wonder if the author has analyzed attitudes of Europeans today as the jihadists rape their women and butcher civilians indiscriminately across the continent. That's reality, do people require propaganda on top of reality to vote out Merkel, for example? They would rather die than admit the import of people with highly antithetical values was a bad idea?

Dems vs Republicans? It all depends on whether you want to preserve the Constitution and our freedoms or not. The Left prefers genocide of non-Muslims to Constitutional values, apparently.

What the propaganda is that lets Muslims justify killing non-Muslims and Muslims of other sects, with impunity, fully justified by Islam. Love to see the author consider that one. In the Middle East, they have done genocide to Jews and now Christians and that is the plan for the West -- move in and take over -- peace is when Islam rules and the house of war is no more. And the difference with ISIS is it's convert or kill, if you're given the opportunity to convert.

But, back to collateral damage. It is wrong; if it can be avoided, it should be. If it can't be, war is war and there are trade offs that must be made. They did the right thing in Eye in the Sky, they had to. 80 vs 1. Very tragic, but necessary. And the rules of engagement were too tight. Watch the movie.

Unfortunately, the enemy we fight doesn't abide by the rules of collateral damage, they target civilians. And they imbed with their own civilians as well. They couldn't care less, people sacrificing their lives for jihad is a good thing to them.

I would like to see this author analyze all this, including why people just don't believe the reality.

No, you can't say ISIS women in Raqqa are ok to hit because they're jihadi brood mares (a horrific statement inappropriate and not funny, in actuality). Many could be innocents that have not bought into the ideology. But, be reminded, this is an existential war on us and our way of life. So, be advised the decision is situational and the rules are too tight. Decision making should be lower in the hierarchy than the movie portrayed and some true propaganda to justify what sometimes and infrequently must be done, as in the movie.

Recently, the Israelis warned that if they engage Hezbollah in Lebanon, there will be a lot of collateral damage. Why? Because Hezbollah expects to fire 1,000 missiles per day at Israel in the war they are preparing for. They have on the order of 100,000 to 150,000 missiles embedded in with civilians, in schools, hospitals, and such. The Iranians have been deploying longer range and more precision missiles. What do you do, not shoot and let your countrymen die instead?

War is most definitely hell.
