"He's double majoring in linguistics and math ... his real interest is "finding patterns in things."

Fascinating combination with many possibilities in various fields. You never know, if you let him find his way, he might gravitate towards one of those fields.

Linguistics sounds scholarly and historical, but if he learns various languages of interest and really is good at finding patterns, he'd have a rare skill set that could prove valuable.

re: "What does he want to do?"

He's double majoring in linguistics and math. I'm not sure what that adds up to, but he says his real interest is "finding patterns in things." If he goes for a Masters degree, maybe it will be more clear.

I did my best to nudge him toward medicine and engineering, but he usually resists my suggestions. Sad
